I took the long way round to do a couple of things, like give the meteorite to Professor Cosmo. On the way I fell foul of some of the trainers I'd avoided the first time. Bwahaha.
And here I am, back in town, ready to face my archnemesis... Slaking.
Petalburg Gym is an annoying place where the trainers like to spam items like Dire Hit. I wonder how different things will be with a wob... I mean, I want them to get critical hits on me.
First battle of the gym and Wobbette reaches another milestone. (The Swellow died in two turns, by the way)
In the "Strength Room"... Ow!! Two Swords Dances and a Slash. One attack.
By my calculations, he got 310 points of damage back.
This was amusing. Wobbette and the Slakoth unsuccessfully tried to Counter each other for a while, then when I decided it wasn't going to do anything else I switched Darkie in and destroyed it on the off turns.
 Oog...
Norman opened with Spinda, which was easy. Then Slaking came out, and all he wanted to do was Yawn or Counter. I switched, and he took out Darkie instantly with Facade. I sent Wobbette out again and he went back to Countering.
Finally, something happened. Wobbette Countered the Facade successfully (doing just a bit more than 50%), healed up on the off turn and then went back to hiding behind Safeguards.
Must've been fifteen turns before he did it again. But when he did, Wobbette was waiting. A Wobbuffet is very patient.
After that, Vigoroth was easy. Two Slashes, two Counters.
 Linoone reaped what he sowed.
Fifth gym badge acquired. Wobbuffet met Slaking, and Wobbuffet won.
Had to catch a new pokemon in order to Surf, so I mooched around until I found a marill. That wasn't the only new addition...
