NiGHTS' treatment of the Nightopians directly affected the world of Nightopia. Drilldash them, or drilldash too closely to them, or paraloop them, and the music becomes sad. Be careful how you fly, hatch them out, keep the Minions away, and the music becomes joyful. Nightopian A-Life may be simplistic by today's standards, but the Nightopians are the forerunners of Sonic Adventure's Chao. Another little secret is that if you do not kill any Nightopians while playing a level, a Nightopian will appear with a scorecard above the Ideya Palace. Just before you go into the Ideya Palace for your fourth round, fly by the little scorecard 'pian-- aim for the card he's holding. He will drop his scorecard and you'll get a bonus for every Star Chip you picked up on the current level! Mind you that you can only get the bonus on the third round, so be sure to remember it before you start that fourth mare. If you kill a single 'pian on your current play in the level, the scorecard 'pian will not show up or will disappear. But don't worry, the next time you play the level you can try again.
